Before I started this "diet" and fitness fun I had a TON of stomach issues. Like digestive issues. I mean it was BAD ! I would end up in the bathroom every night almost in pain ! It was HORRIBLE ! That was one of my first wake up calls actually. I was so tired of being in pain like that so frequently, and deep down I knew it had to do with what I was eating. I just didn't know exactly WHAT I was eating that was doing it. I had no idea at the time it was basically everything I was eating those days that was doing it. So now that I am "eating clean" I have gotten ride of those tummy issues all together ! I mean to the point that I thought that I couldn't eat spicy foods, and was staying away from things that I love and that are good for me just to be safe. It was that I was eating so many processed foods with so many nasty chemicals and additives and such that was messing with me. I am not always perfect with my eating though, and I have days that come where I can't stay away from that bag of Cheetos or that ice cream sandwich, and most of the time I always pay for it by ending up in the bathroom ! It just goes to show how much my body HATES processed foods !! I should have known that all along because I know how sensitive my body is to man made things like medicine and such.
Anyways, the moral of this story is cutting out all those processed foods and being aware of whats in the food I eat and things I drink has basically cured my tummy troubles ! Also being a bad girl and caving into my cravings for those nasty sweets and junk food usually leads to me in pain in the bathroom learning my lesson over again ! It's amazing what food companies put in our foods and we have no idea. It's mind blowing to think that we may be having problems every day with ingesting those things and we don't even know that the problems we are having ( that most of us may think are natural ) are being caused by what is in what we eat ! Not just talking about gluten and fatty foods and refined sugars, but preservatives and chemicals that are added for flavor or color. I mean really ... do you know what you are putting in your body ? I know my body ( and mainly my tummy ) is happier now that I am aware of what is in what I eat !!
A great documentary that I watched that helped me learn about clean eating and what it in the foods that we eat is called Food Inc. It really changed my life actually. That may sound silly, but changing what I eat has changed my life !
